Oliver Stone missed a most salient point in ALEXANDER, namely that this great hero was in fact, Macedonian, and not Greek. In
fact, the Greeks of the time were conquered by the ancient Macedonians and considered them to be crude "barbarians" (foreigners).
Since that time, the Greeks have indulged in centuries of atrocities against the Macedonians, with the current Macedonian population
of Greece being forced to hide their great heritage and identity. To this day, they are fined, imprisoned, harassed and even attacked
for the simple fact of declaring their own ethnic identity.
And to add insult to injury, the Greeks appropriate one of Macedonia’s greatest heroes.
Alexander is rolling in his grave.
