The first part of the book delves into 19th and 20th century Macedonian history and forms the backdrop of the political and economic climate in the
region. Next it takes you on a journey through ten terrible years of conflict (WW II, the Greek Civil War and the Plight of the Macedonian refugee
children) and oppression which literally destroyed the Oshchimian community. A once vibrant village of six hundred was left desolate. The main theme
of the book is the life experiences of ordinary Oshchimians who lived through the worst conditions imaginable and survived to tell their stories.
The book is written in English for the younger generations in the diaspora to learn about their heritage and what life was like for Macedonians
living in Greece.
It is also a record of the old way of life and Macedonian customs and traditions, captured in photographs and print for future generations to enjoy.
